Call of Duty: Black Ops is the seventh entry in the Call of Duty FPS series, set in the Cold War era and placing the player in the shoes of several special forces soldiers carrying out covert operations limited to top-secret missions and never discussed with the public. As in previous Call of Duty titles, the player can switch between a variety of characters, who participate in missions around the world, such as Vietnam, Russia, Cuba, and Laos. The two main characters are soldiers Alex Mason and CIA agent Jason Hudson, both members of the black operations outfit known as the Studies and Observations Group (SOG), who are entrusted with examining and dealing with the Nova-6, a Soviet experimental chemical weapon. Like its predecessor, there’s online and offline multiplayer, and standard game modes like Free-for-All, Team Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag, where they will earn XP points and ascend to the ranks.
World at War is a zombie co-op mode that Treyarch produced in their previous Call of Duty gam, which can be played by two players offline or four players online. Players will collect CoD Points as XP is earned; for every 10XP earned, 1 CoD Point will be earned. These can then be used to bet on the memorable ‘wager matches’ that, upon victory, give the player additional CoD Points and XP. Introduce a new Class 2.0 feature in Black Ops to enable players to further customize their online class; this will include the ability to use dog tags, camo patterns, emblems, and rifle sight reticules. For the first time in a CoD game, players have the chance to control planes like the Hind helicopter gunship and the SR-71 Blackbird stealth plane.
