Game Description :
The Breakout style involves controlling a bat at the bottom of the screen and using it to catch and direct a ball so as to hit all the bricks that are arranged at the top of the screen. It was unpopular for over a decade before Taito revived it with some new ideas in this arcade game.
Key Features:
- Brick Types: Some bricks are breakable after a single hit; some require further hits; others are totally indestructible.
- Power-Up Capsules: Capsules are given when destroying certain bricks, which alter the gameplay.
- Annoying Hazards: Unlike the early “Breakout” clones, Arkanoid has enemies that float on the screen periodically to distract and to change the direction of the ball.
- Final Boss: The Final Stage sees the game leader up against cosmic energy ‘DOH’.
