Game Description :
Kagayaku Kisetsu is a Japanese adult visual novel, developed by Tactics, a brand of the joint company Nexton, and released on May 26, 1998, playable on the PC for Windows 95. The creators of the game also formed Key, a visual novel company, from many of the staff who developed the game. The game was later ported to PlayStation and re-released as a full-voice version for the PC. Another brand of Nexton, BaseSon, produced a sequel loosely based on the original One visual novel entitled One2: Eien no Yakusoku, which was released in April of 2002. Two original video animations (OVA) series were created loosely based on the game. The first was an all-age OVA released from 2001 to 2002 by KSS, also titled the same name as the original game, but with four episodes.
The second series, by the title of One: True Stories, was adult in nature and published by Cherry Lips between 2003 and 2004 with three episodes. Later, one: True Stories was released for English language audiences under the Media Blasters distributor. There are also four novels, drama CDs, a nd manga anthologies. GAMEPLAY: The player has little interaction with the game, since the majority of the game is spent reading the text on the game screen, which is either dialogue written between the various characters or the inner thoughts of the protagonist. At regular intervals, the player will be presented with a “decision point” at which he or she must make a selection from among the options that are shown on the computer screen, usually two or three choices per decision point.
These decision points can be a minute apart or even much more. At such times, the action will stop while the player is given a choice to determine the plot in a particular direction based on the option the player selects. The player will be allowed to experience six main plot lines, each of the heroines of the story. There is more than one possibility on each of the plot lines. STORY: Kohei Orihara, the main protagonist, suspects that his current life will change at some point while living his peaceful life. When his parents die, and his sister passes away too, he starts to retreat into the Eternal World, a world within his head. The core theme of the game is the Eternal World, a mystical otherworld which is never fully described, and whose core concept and details remain unknown. The clues that Shun Hikami gave in the original game may give some idea about the Eternal World.
